This method has limitations as the portable analyser is only recording for a short period and in one area of the premises. It is not feasible to carry out recording in multiple areas as it would be time and cost prohibitive. It would not of course, take into account any seasonal anomalies or future expansion.

The best method is to fit permanent meters in strategic areas around the facility. Meters today are far more cost effective than in the past and offer many more functions. The meters are connected via a network to a central PC. This network can be wired, wireless or connected to the LAN. In this way it is possible to see where energy is used in the premises. This is important to see if areas or processes are profitable. It is also very usefull to confirm if measures undertaken to reduce energy usage are working.
